We Accept Guest Posts

Proline Range Hoods is now accepting guest posts. If you’d like to write for us, we welcome submissions from strong writers who produce content relevant to our customers.

Among the topics we write about are range hoods, kitchen and home improvement, and design. You’re not limited to these categories; we’re open to your ideas too!

Here are our requirements:

  • Length: 750+ words
  • Fulfill a need or provide useful information for our audience
  • Use a professional tone that reflects our blog content – no first-person point of view
  • Content must be original and unique. We take plagiarism very seriously.
  • Topics should be original, new to our blog (or expanding on a topic we have posted about), and relevant to our audience – If you would like, we may also suggest a topic for you.
  • If you’re pulling directly from another source, quote their material and link to their page.
  • We will provide images for your guest post.
  • Submit your post in Google Doc or Microsoft Word format.

At Proline Range Hoods, we are free to reject any submission or ask for you to revise your content. In addition, we may revise your content or follow up with our suggestions.

Occasionally, we’ll exchange a guest post on your site for your guest post on our site.

Finally, we will ensure that your content is unique. We use a couple of different tools to do this with each and every piece of content we publish.

What is a guest post?

A guest post is an article written by a person or company that is published on another company or person’s blog or website.

Benefits to Guest Posting

Why guest post? There are several reasons.

1. Increase Your Brand Awareness

You are probably already familiar to your community of readers, followers and fans, but when you guest blog it brings exposure to you and your brand from another company or person’s following.

Guest posts on our blog bring exposure to not only our readers but our social media following as well.

You could be writing from an office on the West coast and ask to write an article or page for a company in Maine. You could even write for companies internationally, so long as they are still relevant (i.e., if international audiences follow your blog, purchase your products, etc.).

Guest posting will expand the scope of your business beyond the reach of your local area and current audience.

2. Form Lasting Relationships

If your inquiry to guest post is accepted, it’s best to try and form a long-lasting relationship with your collaborator, so long as you have a good experience with them. And it’s a bonus if their site is popular and ranks high on Google. That means that your guest post will reach more people, your brand will become noticed, and Google will recognize any links you included as high-quality backlinks.

3. Strengthen Backlink Profile

When guest posting, best practice is to include at least one link to a high-ranking page on your site such as your main site, blog, products, or other relevant pages. When an article is published on someone else’s site with a link to yours, it shows Google that others think your content is useful enough to link to it.

Sites with more links on the internet that point to them, or backlinks, will have pages from their website come up higher in Google’s search results. People find pages with backlinks easier than pages without backlinks.

The more Google sees people linking to your website’s pages, the more valuable and useful it appears to people looking for that particular content online.

When writing your guest post, be wary of including only keyword-rich “anchor text,” or the text that is actually linked to your webpage. It looks to Google like you are trying to trick their algorithms.

Google doesn’t like it when people only link to your site using the words you are trying to rank your pages for.

For example, say I was writing a guest post for Proline Range Hoods on another website. Rather than link “Proline wall mounted range hood” to a relevant page, I may instead try, “our blog,” “the Proline blog” “these quality products” or something similarly generic.

Before Writing Your Guest Post, Consider…

Why do you want to write a guest post?

Are you invested in writing the content for your partner company? This is vital; hold guest post content to the same standard as content you’d write on your own blog or website. Your collaborators will appreciate it, and they’ll notice the work you put in.

If you are looking to write a quick 200 words with some keywords and a few links and send it over without proofreading, it’s unlikely that a writer will accept it for publication.

Not only that, but you’ve also ruled out the opportunity to work with those people in the future. For example, one of our criteria at Proline that you read above is that articles are at least 750 words.

So, again, be sure you have the time to invest in your guest post. Do your research to provide valuable content for whoever you are writing for.

Think:
Would I publish this on my site? If not, keep revising!
How useful is it to their audience? If it could be more useful, keep revising!

Can you provide valuable content for the business?

Don’t worry, when submitting guest posts, it’s not necessary to know everything there is to know about the topic of the article before writing it. Just make sure that you have the tools to do research and provide accurate content that is useful for the collaborator’s customers.

When writing guest posts, put yourself in the receiver company’s shoes. Most will think ‘What’s in it for me?’ when you submit a request for a guest post. Show them that you can write valuable content and you’ll be well on your way to crafting a strong guest post.

You might even send them some links of content you have written for yourself or others. This will give them a good picture of what you can do.

Do you see yourself partnering with this company in the future?

Some of the most valuable guest posting opportunities may come in the future from a person or company you have worked with in the past.

If you liked your experience with them and they liked your work, ask them about future opportunities. This will be much faster than looking for new contacts and sending out more emails to people you haven’t been in contact with before, if you’re in a pinch.

Especially when you are just beginning to get your feet wet with guest posting or building your own website, take advantage of the few companies that do respond and see if you can do more work with them.

Only writing one guest post for someone isn’t a bad thing; it’s better than not writing a guest post! But if you had a good experience and the person or company likes your writing, it can only help to seek out a long-term partnership. All it takes is asking, “What else can I do for you?”!

How to Write a Guest Post

The basic rule with guest posts is to write them like you would any other article on your site. You want to show your collaborators that you can provide value to them, and the best way to do that is with quality content.

We don’t publish every article that gets thrown our way and other sites are the same. Give it your best shot. You can even ask for feedback if you feel that would be helpful.

Follow the Guidelines

The first thing to do is to understand the requirements for your guest post and ensure that each one is fulfilled. Requirements may include word count, topic, number of links, number of images, type of links, anchor text, and more.

Do Your Research

Once you’ve understood and have made note of all the requirements, do your research on the topic to make sure you’re fully informed before beginning the writing process. You don’t want to give the impression that you didn’t do your research and you spent five minutes on the article.

Check out Google for similar articles to see what others have written on the topic. Or, if relevant, take a look at forums on the topic, question and answer boards, Pinterest, Instagram, or other platforms for ideas.

Find a Second Pair of Eyes

Especially if you don’t know much about the topic of your guest post, it’s important to have someone else read it before you submit it. They may know something you don’t and could provide you with some valuable insight.

Some of your guest posts may really take some time to write. After you have spent a lot of time researching and writing an article, it’s normal to not want to look at it anymore. And that’s fine! Just toss it to another editor – even a friend or a family member – for their feedback!

Proofread

The final step before sending in your guest post is to proofread it very well. The last thing you want is to finish the article, send it in, and realize you’ve misspelled words or even left out an entire section that would be helpful to the reader. It will only take a few minutes; just don’t forget!

How to Find Places to Guest Post

Google Search Queries for Guest Posting

If you’re looking to find guest posting opportunities, and find them fast, searching for the right key terms or keywords is the way to go. Searching for these opportunities is easy. Just pair your key word with synonyms for ‘guest post’ and other similar phrases.

Check out a list below of several queries. This list is not exhaustive, but hopefully it gives you some ideas!

  • Keyword “guest post”
  • Keyword “guest post” websites
  • Keyword intitle:“write for us”
  • Keyword intitle:“we accept guest posts”
  • Keyword intitle:“submit a guest post”
  • Keyword “looking for writers”
  • Keyword “looking for guest posts”
  • Keyword intitle:“become a contributor”
  • Keyword blog intitle:“guest post”
  • Keyword blog intitle:“write for us”
  • Keyword blog intitle:“we accept guest posts”
  • Keyword blog intitle:“submit a guest post”
  • Keyword blog “looking for writers”
  • Keyword blog “accepting guest posts”
  • Keyword blog intitle:“become a contributor”

To Determine Your Keyword

Think about what describes your company or website the best. Do you sell products? For example, at Proline Range Hoods we sell range hoods. So, we may search for something like: range hood “guest post.” If you don’t sell products, think about the topic of your site. For example, if you’re running a blog on kitchen design trends, you might try: kitchen design blog “guest post.” Or, if all you write about is ice cream recipes, you might try: ice cream recipes “guest post.”

How Many Times To Guest Post on One Site

There’s no downside to submitting multiple guest posts on one site, as long as the content is unique. Along with the content, try to diversify where you link to on your site and anchor text. Anchor text is the word or words that link to pages from the articles you write.

For example, if I was submitting three guest posts on a site, I wouldn’t want to link the words ‘range hood’ to the same page on our website in all three of those articles.

If you can establish a strong partnership with someone, do it! But, make sure it is worth your time. If the site brings in a lot of traffic, produces great content, guest posting multiple times may be incredibly valuable. Their audience will see you as a regular contributor and you will benefit from continuing to work with them.

How to Get a Guest Post Approved

It’s one thing to write a guest post and send it to the editors; it’s another to get the guest post approved. Luckily, it’s not too hard. As long as you are a strong, dedicated writer that produces relevant content, you’ll be just fine.

Read the requirements!

Some websites publish guest post requirements on their site publicly. Others will send you their requirements after your initial inquiry. They expect you to follow these requirements; otherwise, they wouldn’t be there. So, it’s crucial to double check that you’re following every one.

Posting requirements is one way companies filter their guest post submissions. Businesses that receive multiple guest post inquiries daily can’t possibly read through every article thoroughly. If you don’t meet the requirements, it’s highly likely that your article won’t be considered.

That’s how we do it here at Proline. Our guest post requirements aren’t that difficult, but we need them to be followed.

If guest post requirements aren’t publicly available on the website, just ask the person who contacted you.  Some companies don’t have requirements. Regardless, they will appreciate and be impressed by the fact that you ask up front and then follow them.

Revise, revise, revise!

Writers and editors will be able to tell if you whipped something up in 5 minutes with little to no research and thought, or if you spent an hour or more, carefully gathering information, and focusing on what is valuable for the company and their audience in your guest post.

After you write your initial draft, take a few minutes to read through the post again – and even a third or fourth time! You can never proofread too much. Feel free to take a break after you write the post before reviewing it.

Toss it around to another person or two as well. Simply ask them to point out things they would strengthen or items they think were missed altogether.

Do they still have any questions after reading the article? This can be a great way to adjust or add additional sections or ideas to it and ensure you have a strong piece.

Fresh eyes are invaluable when creating your content.

Communicate professionally.

When scouring the internet for guest post opportunities, you may send out hundreds of emails or fill out dozens of guest post forms for companies you’ve never even heard of.

Most importantly, don’t sound robotic; be personal! Companies are more likely to partner with you and consider your guest post if you act like an actual human.

Their first impression of you will be that initial communication (whether it be via email, contact form, phone, etc.), so make sure that you present yourself professionally, abide by their requirements, and act respectfully. Be sure to thank them for considering your guest post. And feel free to reach out multiple times. You won’t be a nuisance. They are likely very busy and will appreciate your follow up.

Build a strong relationship.

Beyond communicating professionally, if you had a good experience with anyone you encounter as you connect with and write for others, express interest in working again with them. And thank them for the opportunity. This will give you the best chances of working with them again in the future. And that will save you a lot of time; rather than searching Google for more opportunities, you can have several with just one site!
