“Excellent product. I recently received a Proline Model ProV58L.430 58″ range hood insert with the 1200 cfm local blower. It was packaged extremely well and arrived undamaged. I unboxed it and tested it. The blower was already installed in the hood. Everything worked as it should. The build quality is very good. I have not installed it yet, but I installed a similar hood at my old house and it worked great for many years. I give it 5 stars.” – R.L. S.

Does Proline sell a ductless range hood insert with a charcoal filter?

Proline does not sell a ductless range hood insert with a charcoal filter. All three of our inserts duct to the outside. Ducted inserts are always preferable over ductless inserts because they move all the greasy smokey kitchen air outside your home. A ducted insert better improves your air quality in your cooking space and home. It will do its part to help keep you and your family healthy for years to come.

Does Proline sell an outdoor range hood insert?

Proline does not sell an outdoor range hood insert. Most inserts are installed indoors since it’s hard to keep a custom hood clean in an outdoor kitchen. It is possible to use our insert in an outdoor kitchen but it is not recommended.

Quietest Range Hood Insert

One of the quietest range hood inserts at Proline is the ProV insert. The ProV is the quietest since it comes with the option for an inline blower. An inline blower sits inside your ductwork instead of inside your range hood. It will always be quieter than a local blower.

The Hurricane is also a quiet option for your kitchen. It comes with either a single 600 CFM blower or a dual 1200 CFM blower. The 600 CFM blower is about 5 sones, while the 1200 CFM blower is about 7 sones. Both of these sone ratings are quiet given the amount of air that the fan pulls from your home.

What is a ductless range hood insert?

A ductless range hood insert is a kitchen fan inside a custom hood that recirculates your kitchen air back into your cooking space. Unlike a ducted insert, it does not require ductwork. Ductless range hood inserts are not as popular as ducted inserts.

To keep your custom hood clean, and enjoy all the benefits of a custom range hood it’s best to install a ducted insert that moves your grimy kitchen air to the outside of your home.

What is a convertible range hood insert?

Range Hood Insert vs Under Cabinet

A range hood insert fits inside a custom hood or custom cabinetry, while an under cabinet range hood fits under or between your cabinets. Unlike an under cabinet hood, a range hood insert does not look like a standard tapered range hood with stainless steel housing. It’s a rectangular fan that slides inside your cabinetry and vents your kitchen air to the outside.

Range Hood Insert vs Wall Mount

A wall mounted range hood is mounted on your wall, while a range hood insert slides inside a custom hood. Wall mount range hoods are typically tapered, rectangular, or glass. Most wall hoods feature a chimney that covers your range hood duct.

But, range hood inserts are much smaller. They do not come rectangular, tapered, or in a glass design. Instead, the rectangular stainless steel fan slides inside your custom hood.

The ductwork is also concealed inside your wall, so there’s no need for a chimney cover.

What size range hood insert do I need?

The size of your range hood insert will depend on the width of your custom hood. At Proline Range Hoods, our inserts come in sizes 28” to 58”. These inserts fit smoothly into hoods that are two additional inches wide. For example, 28” inserts will fit seamlessly into your 30” custom hood.

How much CFM do I need for my range hood insert?

The amount of power you need for your range hood insert will depend on your cooking style. If you cook often, you’ll want a higher-CFM insert to eliminate strong odors and provide adequate ventilation. But if you cook rarely, you’ll want less CFM. Blower power will also depend on the type of food you cook. Generally, high CFM hoods and inserts are great for high-heat cooking, Asian cooking, greasy cooking, and other similar styles.

At Proline Range Hoods, our inserts pull between 600 and 1700 CFM. Regardless of your cooking style, you’ll be able to find an insert for you. We have a couple of articles on determining the CFM for your vent hood; check them out below.
