Can my blower rotate to the back of my hood?
Several of our under cabinet range hoods at Proline have a rotatable blower. The models are listed below.
At Proline, most of our under cabinet hoods feature blowers that first vent vertically, then the ductwork can be run through the ceiling or out a wall. Take a look at the example below.
Note: If you have one of these hoods, be sure to run the duct vertically for at least 18” before the 90º elbow.
It keeps the air moving through the duct smoothly and prevents grease build-up. Not following these suggestions will create too much air resistance and prevent your hood from working properly. This reduces the effective CFM of your hood and may shorten the life of your hood as well.
With a rotatable blower, your duct can exit through the wall horizontally, without an elbow. Check out the diagram below.
Depending on where your duct is located, this might be the setup that you need.
Here’s a spec sheet of our PLJW 109.30 to show you where exactly the blower is located. As you can see in the diagram below, the blower is designed to vent vertically. But, we can rotate it to the back, if you’d like.
Our PLJW 185 is slightly different than the rest of the hoods on the list above. The other hoods have blowers that need to be rotated so that the duct outlet is horizontal, not vertical. But the PLJW 185 has a vertical and horizontal outlet.
When you receive the hood, you can choose to remove the top to run the duct vertically or remove the back to run the duct horizontally. We make it easy to punch out the stainless steel, so no cutting is necessary.
