The New Year is here and it’s time to stick to those resolutions! Hopefully, you’re still hanging on and eager to add a few more to the mix! Routines take a while to get used to, especially new ones. Make sure you give it a hard two weeks of dedication to ensure your newest resolution sticks throughout the year!

If you’re looking for some ways to stick to your resolution, or perhaps some new ones you hadn’t thought of before, we’ll give you some ideas!

Begin Eating Healthier in your kitchen

This one is always a classic, right? Well, there’s no better time to change your habits than the new year! Starting this resolution by yourself is always hard, and it’s better when there’s an accountability system. If you can start this with a friend, that’s the best way to go about a healthier lifestyle!

If your whole family needs to start eating healthier, this can be a little challenging. For starters, the best way to get into the habit right away is to clear out your pantry and refrigerator of all the unhealthy food. If it’s already opened, you can give it away to friends or throw it away. If the food is unopened, consider donating it to your local food shelter or other charity.

Then, make a list of some healthy foods! It might be helpful for you to create a seven-day meal plan for your family.

Here’s a great post for some healthy smoothies, 20 easy instant pot recipes, and a complete guide (with some recipe ideas) on getting your family to eat healthy.

Add Air Purifying Plants to Your Bedroom and Main Rooms

Incorporate Indoor House Plants Into Your Home

We’re no strangers to poor air quality in Salt Lake City. In summers and winters, it can get nasty.

I’ve brought plants into my home over the past year in an effort to improve the air quality. It has worked wonders! Some plants are better for air purifying than others while others are meant to liven up the space. Here are 16 great tips on improving your indoor air quality.

If you’ve got space in your main rooms like your kitchen or family room, try adding a large, leafy, potted plant. You’ve likely got the most room for this size of a plant, and it’ll make an immediate change in your home!

Smaller plants like snake plants, wide leafy plants like ferns, and other leafy plants can easily be added to your bedroom.

Don’t forget to add plants you know you can take care of, too; succulents are the easiest to care for. Start there if you’re unfamiliar! Then, slowly bring in leafy plants, one at a time. Soon, you’ll be overgrown!

The first step is to allow time for your remodel, and ask yourself a series of questions: How long will it take? Three months? Six months? What will be usable during your kitchen remodel? Will I need to vacate my house for a period of time?

Luckily for you, we’ve covered this topic many times.
